During my last few interviews with the legal team, I got to talk to Associate and Assistant GCs and learn about what each of them does specifically. Starting off with Mrs. Breitenbach who is an Assistant GC at parker. To begin the interview I got an insight into how company mergers and acquisitions work from a legal standpoint. If two companies merge depending on the contract all the workers from the old company automatically become parker employees. Mrs. Breitenbach also works a lot with the customer experience and makes sure customers are happy with whatever they are buying. She also taught me about how the WIN strategy plays a role in her work in the sense that keeping everyone feeling engaged and important is key to creating a successful work environment. Some advice she told me about managing workload is to make a checklist and prioritize things based on what's more pressing. I was also taught that by thinking about how you can improve processes at work eventually you’ll become better at your job. Lastly, she talked about good things I can do if I’m planning on going into law. Things like talking to lawyers and asking them questions are just a few of the things she talked about. In another interview with Mrs. Simmons, Associate GC for parker, she told me all about what she does for parker. If there are any policy issues in the workforce they come to her. She is essentially the human resources lawyer and deals with a lot of internal things in the workplace. Some advice she gave me for college was to study the right classes like English, sociology, and political science. She also gave me advice on time management and told me that she always has a daily project she's working on and that the key to being successful is being focused and determined.
