The thing that inspired me to do my project was the hope that I would come out of the project with more knowledge of business and more importantly law. While planning my project I tried to make it so that during my interviews I would have a wide array of interviewees who had jobs from every aspect of business and law. All of this is inside of a company so it narrows down the kind of law and business I want to learn more about. My project went well in the sense that I accomplished my goal of learning how law and business intertwine. I learned all about what kind of lawyer you can be while in a company like parker and also more about how large businesses run. I really enjoyed all the interviews and my questions were always answered with fleshed-out answers. On top of all this, I worked with my mentor, Mr. Leonti, all throughout my project and learned all kinds of law-related ideas and mottos and just more about parker itself. One of the lawyers told me all about product liability and the kinds of problems parker deals with which I thought was really interesting. Nothing particularly went wrong with my project but I was caught off guard by how little I actually knew about law and business. I learned all about what makes parker so successful. Ideas and mottos like the WIN strategy and ESG were just a few of the things I learned. A lot of the lawyers also gave me advice on what to do if I plan on going pre-law. I personally feel better going into college because of some of the advice and connections I got from this project. I also got an insight into what kinds of lawyers work for businesses like parker (IP, Product liability, Acquisitions and Divestitures, etc). Hawken could partner with parker in the future by possibly having people from parker come in and talk about what they do. If anyone is interested in doing any kind of engineering senior project they could partner with parker in the future. My advice about planning a project is to just figure out what you want your project to be early and make sure you are actually interested in what you are doing because you can get a lot of helpful information from these projects. My biggest takeaway from this project is that I am now more confident in knowing what I want to do in the future. Majoring in political science is gonna let me choose if I want to go pre-law and possibly work for a business like parker someday. I am very thankful to Mr. Leonti for being my mentor and working with me, especially for someone like him who is busy twenty-four seven. I am also thankful to the other fifteen people I interviewed for taking time out of their busy schedules to sit down and meet with me.
